A Missionaries Diary
Today is Saturday and our plans were to travel to Murchison Falls, but Prince Charles was in town and he messed up our plans by going there the same time we did. As we traveled down the road there were lines of Ugandans for miles waving at us, evidently they thought we were royalty, so we waved back and smiled. It was sort of like being queen for the day.

We also went to the falls and I saw the craziest rapids that I have ever seen. If I could describe this trip to anyone it would be like a bitter-sweet taste in your mouth. Some of the time you’re about to breakdown and cry and others your overwhelmed with joy.

Today was the most amazing day I have had in Africa. There has been many times when I am shooting that I think of how great we have it back in the states. I was devastated when we went to the babies home and found out that some of the children where HIV +. One of these children was a little girl about 18 months. This really hit me hard because my daughter in the states is the same age. I have been capturing all of these moments on camera and will bring it home for you all to take a walk through Africa. (Matt)

We proceed to the orphanage to visit the home and spend time with the children. There were about 50 precious children living there. They were so excited to see us. One little boy, who was about 3, took a particular liking to Matt. He called him Uncle Matt and followed him around wanting to look into the video camera. It’s heartbreaking to see these beautiful children who are only looking for the love of family. We did find out that the children at this orphanage can be adopted.

Please pray that Matt and I will be able to get to Gulu in Northern Uganda. We have had some complication in getting there. I believe the Lord wants us to deliver the Proclaimers (New Testament)to the Acohli people. I know God will open all the doors to make this possible

.
As far as prayer requests please pray for our trip to Gulu. This area is where we are going to come back to in 2009. I would love to see you all with us on the next trip. I also wanted to tell you that Africa has been way overlooked. This country is totally safe and the rebels are gone to the Congo. The only threat we have here is not listening to God’s call for our work in Africa. I love you all especially my wife Dana, and kids Jaxson, and Jerzee. Daddy will be home soon and will tell you all about the miracles in Uganda. (Matt)
