A Missionaries Diary
Watoto’s purpose is to provide orphans with a family. Homes that will house 8 children and a caregiver. These are being built by volunteers that come to Watoto from around the world. The children are happy and cheerful. They stand by the roadsides cheering as the bus passes by. We stopped at the Subbi Village today where 108 homes have been built. There are over 1500 children and aunties living there. They provide them with a home, education, medical assistance, and spiritual training. The children have lost everything but you will find them in the chapel singing and praising the Lord.
The people here is Uganda/Watoto are forever mentors of mine. I am amazed of how little they survive on and their intense hunger for God. I spoke with many different mothers today in the Bbira and Subbi villages. These are ladies that have given up their own life and answered Gods call and are now raising 8 orphans. Our lives in the US are incredible ally different. I know that now the material things in life are not important. I have learned so much about myself and about Africa today that I am broken inside for these people. I feel so humiliated that I was so focused on the material things in life rather than my spiritual life and Gods call for my life.
I was speaking with some of the children today about the USA. I promised these children that I will come back in 2009 with a team of 30 people from North Dakota. This means if you’re reading this and your heart is being spoken to then join with me in saving these children. Uganda is nothing like everyone in the US talked about. This is a safe striving country that is in dire need of Americans to join together and build villages for these orphaned children.
I would highly recommend a mission trip to Uganda and I guarantee that I will be coming back in 2009. I am excited because this is only the second day and I have seen so much! I cannot wait to see what God does. (Matt)
